Margaret Garcia has been helping people reach their fitness goals for 20+ years.
She discovered the gym after high school, where she found strength, confidence, and a sense of “being valued” after experiencing a challenging childhood. At that time, there were mainly men in the gym that were determined to get buffed like Arnold! Never one to be intimidated, Margaret put on her baggy clothes, her blinders, found a few books written by female weight trainers, and began her fitness journey.
Margaret began teaching classes in 1978 at the University of New Mexico and the YMCA in downtown Albuquerque. She initially certified as a personal trainer with ACE (American Council on Exercise), and trained and taught classes in California where she lived for 20 years.
Margaret returned to Albuquerque in 2001 and certified as a personal trainer with ISSA (International Sports Sciences Association). She added a nutritionist certification in 2023. Currently, she teaches weight loss transformation classes, weight training and nutrition counseling, both for individuals and in group settings.
Margaret, who is age 60+, lives in Albuquerque with her cat, Tyson, who is in tip-top shape at age 18!
